Mexico Manufacturing Industry

Manufacturing in Mexico offers many strategic competitive advantages for global manufacturing companies that serve the North American market.

Today, Mexico has a young and abundant skilled labor pool, emerged in a bi-lingual and bi-cultural manufacturing environment; a solid logistics infrastructure; and an extensive network of treaties and agreements that guarantee free trade with the world’s main markets.

Mexico is a key player in eight different clusters or industries. Automotive industry

The Mexican automotive industry is the 10th largest light vehicle producer in the world, exporting 75% of its assembled units to the North American market. Mexico is also a key player in the auto-parts industry, exporting to North America, Europe and Asia. Mexico's assembly for final light vehicle production is currently performed by: GM, Nissan, Honda, Volkswagen and Ford.

Appliance Industry

Mexico's is the number one location for the assembly of bulky (freight intensive) products. It s skilled labor and geographic position has provided international Appliance firms a competitive advantage.

Some of the main products produced in Mexico for the North American market are: Washers and Dryers, Refrigerators, Dishwashers, Air Conditioning Units, Microwave Ovens and Vacuum Cleaners.

Electronics industry

Electronics is one of the fastest growing industries in Mexico in terms of export potential and employment generation. Mexico is the 2nd largest supplier to the North American electronics industry followed by China. Mexico's electronic products vary from audio and video, telecommunications, computer equipment, equipment parts and other industrial units for medical and commercial use.

Juarez is the preferred location for consumer and industrial electronic components. Located just minutes away from two border cities: El Paso Texas and Santa Teresa New Mexico, international firms have successfully established assembly operations for televisions, computers, automotive components, medical units, aerospace and appliance parts.
